Established in 1911 as Charlton D. Putnam providing surveying and civil engineering services, Woolpert has evolved to be a nationwide leader providing geospatial, design and infrastructure management services. Former names of the firm include Putnam & Woolpert Civil Engineers (1931), Ralph L. Woolpert Company Consulting Engineers (1942), Woolpert Consultants (1979), Woolpert LLP (1997) and currently Woolpert, Inc. (2005). Woolpert is a privately held corporation that employs approximately 630 professional and technical personnel in more than 20 offices nationwide.

Woolpert’s geospatial services group, consisting of nearly 250 employees, includes 16 ASPRS-recognized certified photogrammetrists, 2 certified mapping scientists, 6 pilots, 6 aerial photographers/sensor operators, 21 Certified GIS Professionals (GISP), 31 registered land surveyors licensed in multiple states (46 land survey licenses), and 26 staff members who have completed the FAA online IDLE training course. Truly a full-service consulting firm, Woolpert also possesses a suite of professions and expertise on staff that include 40 professional engineers licensed in multiple states (102 engineering licenses), an Accredited Airport Executive, 45 LEED certified professionals, 15 landscape architects, 14 architects and a host of photogrammetric, survey, engineering, GIS and CAD technicians, cartographers, and quality control specialists.

Woolpert’s strong global reputation for high quality surveying and geospatial services to our clients is well documented. Our surveying expertise covers a wide variety of project types and includes: boundary, American Land Title Association (ALTA), topographic and planimetric mapping, bathymetric, geodetic control, asset inventory, construction layout, subsurface utilities, hazardous materials, volumetric, interior space mapping, and 3D laser scanning. Our aerial mapping experience includes: aerial photography, conventional/ airborne and GPS ground control, LiDAR, softcopy and analytical photogrammetric map production, photogrammetric compilation, digital orthophotography, image registration/classification, airspace analysis, DTM data capture, volumetric computations, cartography, impervious surface mapping to support projects ranging from transportation corridors, to airports, private development, civil infrastructure, military construction and asset management.

A key component of our success is our ability to very quickly become comfortable with our clients’ requirements and project specifications in order to deliver high quality service within budget and on schedule. In many cases, we are also called upon by our clients to assist in the development or modernization of their project specifications. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), United States Geological Survey (USGS), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) are examples of recent federal clients and a testament to our ability to work on large and small project sites, provide a multidisciplinary solution and meeting the strict standards required by federal, state and local government clients.
