Aviation Services
Woolpert’s comprehensive, in-house services help our aviation clients’ reach their full potential of their airport’s operation by providing complete planning, design, environmental, enterprise information management (EIM), surveying, and aerial mapping/remote sensing services for their capital improvement programs. The successful implementation of the design needed to ensure improved safety and security is dependent on accurate data, precise organization, and a clear vision, allowing airports to plan and fund projects aimed at future viability and sustainability. With a focus on airport development, industry regulations, and current as well as future aviation trends, Woolpert provides solutions for whatever initiatives airport clients demand.
Beyond working closely with airports, Woolpert has an established and significant relationships with the FAA at many levels; working directly with the FAA in development of national geospatial standards and safety critical data collection (Advisory Circulars 150/5300-16A, -17C, and -18B). Since 2003, the demand for new geospatial data for instrument approach procedures has increased significantly and Woolpert has completed these surveys at over 1200 airports in 47 different states and overseas. Our survey team possess extensive knowledge and has seen the industry standards transform from third-party survey standards, including the FAA 405 Document, Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-260-1, Army Regulation 95-2, to the current FAA Advisory Circulars 150/5300-16A, -17C, -18B. Woolpert has also developed the FAA’s training program (FAA IDLE) for the aviation industry about the new geospatial data standards.
Woolpert has been providing survey services since 1911, photogrammetry since 1969, GPS since 1986, and GIS since 1980. Our Photogrammetry, Survey, and GIS staff represents 40% of the total firm resources. This attests to our capabilities and commitment for excellence. One of the largest privately held survey firms in the country. Key survey services include aeronautical surveys, boundary, construction layout, geodetic, topographic, GPS, 3D laser scanning, sub-surface utility engineering, utility GIS inventories, and hydrographic surveys using differential GPS, acoustic, and conventional techniques.
Possessing a full suite of aviation planning, design and geospatial capabilities, Woolpert provides a unique comprehensive and bundled solution supplying a cost-effective, one step solution, for all requirements to ensure each project is successfully loaded into the AGIS repository. Woolpert has more recently been extensively involved in the FAA’s electronic ALP (eALP) program. Our firm has completed, or is currently under contract, at 42 airports across the nation to provide or assist other firms in eALP data development and support services over the past 3 years. Woolpert is not only providing airport planning, photogrammetric base mapping, aeronautical survey and GIS development for many of these projects, but also data conversion of spatial and non-spatial attribution, Enterprise GIS implementation, planned development features and inclusion of as-built data from new projects.
